At Willoway Nature Center, children have room to make something, test an idea, notice how their bodies feel and discover what helps when a task becomes difficult. Masoud guides the process with curiosity, manageable choices and space to try again.
Projects may happen individually, alongside others or with a partner. Each child can choose materials, follow a personal idea and contribute at a comfortable pace.
Discovery begins with curiosity.
What children can practise
Play, movement and making offer children different ways to communicate. When something falls apart or feels overwhelming, adults help the child pause, find a manageable next step and reflect when ready.
Attention, working memory, sequencing, decision-making and flexible problem-solving.
Body awareness, balance, coordinated movement, hand-eye coordination and fine motor practice.
Recognising feelings and body signals, asking for support and practising ways to settle.
Choosing a project, testing an idea, seeking help and finding the courage to try again.
Curiosity, patient observation, respect for boundaries and care for a shared environment.
Explore, build & test
Explore the grounds, notice natural details and make a personal map.
Compare textures, colours, materials and sounds as the landscape changes.
Plan, build and test a miniature shelter with safe natural materials.
Observe movement and behaviour while learning space, care and respectful boundaries.
Use prints, clay or sculpture to represent curiosity, patience or another personal strength.
Build a bridge or route, make a prediction, test it and revise the plan.
Active throughout the year
Familiar routines, fresh seasonal projects and time to continue an interest.
Extended time for nature investigation, construction, creative expression and quiet breaks.
